The oldest item in the museum at Forr Mobility in Ashford, Kent.
The Leveson & Sons bath chair was acquired in need of a lot of restoration. The seat covering had rotted and the chassis was broken.
After restoration, with as much original material as possible retained. This bath chair has a wooden body covered in material for the seat and backrest, with horse hair as cushioning. The back is sprung like a settee and the chassis has leaf spring suspension.
This item was put to use during the Rochester Dickens Festival in 2004.
